CHARACTER
» Name: Komachi Onozuka
» Fandom: Touhou Project
» Reference: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Komachi_Onozuka
» Canon Point: Recent canon, TH 13, Wild and Horned Hermit chapter 6 and Oriental Sacred Place chapter 13. (The manga are very loose on their timeline but their events are considered canon along with the games so this isn't a case of mixing different versions of canon.)
» Gender: Female
» Age: Unkown, at least 500 looks somewhere in her early 20s.
» Orientation: Unkown. Touhou is not a canon that focuses on the romantic or sexual relationship of its characters. All we know about their love lives is that they may have one but it's not important to the stories told. Komachi is no exception. Even if Touhou dealt with such topics Komachi herself is noted as spending a lot of time alone as she is a ferryman of the dead, so there would be little chance or reason to give details of her sexual orientation.

» Personality: Komachi is a shinigami that works as a ferryman under Shiki Eiki. She's a pretty laid back worker and practices the philosophy of "working at your own pace". Generally this is acceptable of ferrymen, and why they aim to work at the job. But Komachi's idea of her own pace is far from a good work ethic. She takes more breaks than works. Yet, when she does work, or puts her mind to do something, she's really good at it. So despite that she is a rather less than stellar employee, she has yet to be fired, though she has been disciplined much.

Komachi spends a lot of time alone and with the recently deceased, due to this she tends to think a lot, and talk a lot. She either talks to herself, or to anyone who will listen when given the chance. Unlike her boss who lectures, Komachi is more philosophical and conversational in her talking. However a lot of the time her conversations are one sided, even with an active participant who can talk. Though she's just as capable to get other people to talk and tell her things instead of talking herself. Since she spends a lot of time talking to souls when she's around people she tends to strike up random conversations and hang out whenever the chance arises. This is usually when she's suppose to be working, and leads to either the other characters telling her to go back to work, or her getting in trouble when she does finally go back on her own.

Whenever people come near the Sanzu River she will try and stop them, either through talk or attacking them. This isn't through malice though; she is genuinely worried they are trying to commit suicide, as any living person who tries to cross the river will be dead when they get to the other side. She doesn't want them to die, so tries her best to deter them. Of course, most the time the people aren't trying to cross the river, and are in no way suicidal, she won't let her assumption go though.

Despite Komachi's slacker nature, she is still a force to be reckoned with. She's rather strong and intelligent, though her laid back personality doesn't always give that impression. When she wants to she is incredibly capable, and when she focuses on something she is rather persistent. When she gets her act together, she is quite exemplary.

In Phantasmagoria of Flower View we first meet her when the player character reaches the 5th stage, she's found sleeping unaware of the current issue, which is her lack of work has caused the souls to build up and possess flowers causing them all to bloom out of season. When she discoveries this she tries to hurry off to quickly take care of it, else get in trouble, but she is stopped and a battle is started. Later, her boss Eiki shows up and lectures her and the player moves on to Eiki. After those events, in the extra stage Komachi is taking a break from clearing out the back load of souls and decides to go around and talk to people and see if the flowers are getting better. Whenever she runs into someone who she met during the first part of the game, they tell her to go back to work and attack her. Finally at the end she runs into Eiki who tells her she lacks in needs. Since ferrymen make money based on the worth of a soul, she would have more money if she ferried good people and ferried more souls in general. Instead she tells Eiki that good people don't have as interesting stories, indicating that she's mostly chatting.

In Scarlet Weather Rhapsody Komachi, due to a lack of souls about she decides to go off and kill some time. She's devised a way to understand a person’s soul before they die, based on the weather she encounters when running into them. She's rather accurate in her assessments, and finally when she's done with Reimu she decides to go back to work. This is when Tenshi comes and attacks her for being a shinigami. Despite having spent the entire game slacking off, she becomes quite serious with Tenshi, as Tenshi had been misusing souls, which made her job difficult, and is simply wrong.

Perfect Memento in Strict Sense (guide book): http://en.touhouwiki.net/images/0/04/PMiSS_komachi.jpg

"Her tall geta and enormous sickle give her an imposing stature," is a line from the guide book Perfect Memento in Strict Sense describing Komachi and gives a rather good impression. Komachi is considered fairly tall, at least taller than most the other characters. She has short wavy red hair which she wears up in half pigtails and is seen wearing a blue outfit that includes a kimono type top with a puffed sleeve shirt, a black obi, a long blue skirt and a 5 yen coin tied around her waist like a belt. Her getta as stated are rather tall and are usually black in colour. A feature that is rather noticeable is that she has a fair sized bust, especially compared to other characters.

» Suitability: Komachi is an adult character physically and mentally as well as within the context of her canon. As an adult she should have no problems exposed to sexual situations.

» "amatomnes" First-Person Network Entry:
[The network is activated! However despite this it takes Komachi a few moments to notice.]

Is it on? I'll never get used to this kind of stuff. Maybe the higher ups should invest into higher technologies; it would make things a lot easier in the end.

[She pauses a thinks about that a moment, but then a look of dread crosses her face and she shakes her head.]

Maybe not, I don't really want to be so easily contacted. I wouldn't be able to avoid my boss if she had access to me all the time.

[But wait, something occurs to her.]

But then if all she did was call me... I could say I was anywhere.

[She seems a little proud of this idea but quickly remembers the device and what she was actually doing.]

Heh, sorry about that. So, this place is some kind of island is it? A little strange, I can't say I've ever really had to deal with something like this before. It's a bit awkward to say the least. But what can I say; maybe I was due some vacation time. I could have picked a better place, but a break's a break right? Beggars can't be choosers and make the best of a lousy situation.

[She tries to laugh it off but it's not quite as smooth as she was going for.]

Anyway, might as well introduce myself right? No reason not to get to know people now is there? I'm Komachi, the great ferryman of the Sanzu River! But enough about me, I bet you all have way more interesting stories than I do.

» "amatomneslogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
Komachi wasn't one to wake quickly, if anything she was one to prolong her sleep as much as possible. Despite the foreign environment and smooth sheets she shouldn't be on her mind continued to cling to a state of half wakefulness. It was too comfortable and she felt rather relaxed, it was too good a feeling to get up yet. Now what was that dream? If she could reconstruct it slowly she could go back to a deeper sleep and perhaps resume whatever it was from wherever it left off. But she couldn't exactly remember, instead trying to think about it made her brain work harder and push her toward proper wakefulness.

No, wait, oh yes that was it, that kind of dream wasn't it. That had been nice, the sort of feelings you only get from a dream. Because nothing in reality could ever feel like that, something only your mind could do because who knew you better than yourself? But the more she thought about it the more she became aware of her surroundings. She was on a soft bed with sheets that were way too fancy. No way should she be in a bed, when she took naps it was in Muenzuka, the forgotten graveyard. She just leaned herself up against that cherry tree there, it wasn't uncomfortable but it sure wasn't a bed with sheets.

Something was wrong, and this triggered a reaction. She no longer tried to lull herself back to sleep; instead she became completely aware, and rather fast. She might be a slacker, but you could only be a successful slacker if you could also make yourself worth having. Komachi made herself worth having by actually being competent when she put effort into it.

She was naked, in a strange bed in a strange room with pillars. She'd never seen this sort of architecture in person before, but then she didn't get out much either. It definitely wasn't Japanese, neither of Gensokyo or the outside world. No, it wasn't even modern. It had a western feel to it, what was it, it was at the tip of her tongue, ancient Greece? Did she somehow end up back in time? What was this? She didn't somehow get on the wrong river and go to the Elysian Fields did she? No way, she would probably end up in the Asphodel Meadows....

No, she was getting side tracked; that stuff wasn't important what was important was...

"Shiki sama is going to kill me if she finds out I'm gone," she could already see it, it didn't matter where she was, Shiki sama would come and find her and punish her for slacking off. "It's not my fault this time though, I didn't do this!"

Wait a minute, that was a good question. Who did this? She was a shinigami, who would move her from her post? Not to mention who would even bother with an employee of Hell.... Enough thinking, she could just... write a report about it right? She better get back to where she needed to be, though where were her clothes? It didn't take long for her to notice the neat pile folded to the side, well that was nice of the pervert but she really didn't appreciate them being removed in the first place. It just made it all awkward... a pervert must have grabbed her!

"I guess it's true, it's a dangerous world we're entering, people don't think about the consequences of Hell and do not fear anymore," she could hear the potential lecture from her boss on the subject forming already. Maybe she shouldn't say anything... but it was too awkward and creepy! Anyway she needed to explain why she wasn't at the river....

What was this little device, she didn't remember owning anything like that. It was some kind of communication device, sort of like the portable phones of the outside world. She'll just have to think about it later. She needed to get dressed quickly and get back to work. Hell she just needed most her clothes approximately where they needed to be, she could fix the rest later, and back to the river!

...

What..? WHAT!? She was still here... Okay, maybe she would have to go to Higan first and then physically go over the river then.... Nope. Now that she started to think about it... she couldn't sense her power anymore.

"Wh-what's going on...?"
